A Call TO Action
This is a call to action, in light of the situation left by Hurricane Katrina.
Its been relatively easy to stay in our own comfort zones over the years, ignoring the occassional homeless man or woman seen sleeping on benches, under overpasses or roaming the streets.
The time has come to do something. Its more obvious than ever how willing our government is to overlook its citizenry in time of need.
I think it is safe to say that, for the most part, we're all guilty of assuming that somehow the homeless, in general, are somehow responsible for their plight.
Now thousands are displaced through no action, or lack of it, of their own.
Donating money, clothes and food is a good thing, a wonderful thing. But, its not good enough.
I urge, challenge even, everyone to consider leaving your comfort zone and bringing an individual, couple or family under your roof.
There is no time to wait for government intervention. People are dying and in despair.
Get with your community and your congregations and work out a plan of action. Not tomorrow. Not next week.
Do it today.
Best regards,
